WHAT NOT TO PACK WHEN MOVING

Help Keep Your Items In Transit Safe!

It may seem like when it comes time to move, you need to pack everything. For the most part, this is true. However, there are certainly some exceptions. Some items can be dangerous to pack. Capitol is happy to provide a list of items you should avoid packing.

Many of these “What NOT to Pack When Moving” materials can cause damage to items in your boxes while being moved or damage the truck they are in. Avoid risks and please DO NOT PACK the following prohibited items:

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

IMPORTANT FILES OR PAPERS

PERISHABLES

NOTE: You should empty your refrigerators and freezers and keep appliance doors open for at least 24 hours in advance of loading. This will allow appliances to dry out and prevent the growth of mold.

**If you are moving less than 150 miles and your items will be delivered within 24 hours of pickup, it is possible to transport perishables that are properly packed and require no servicing in transit.
