At Capitol Moving & Storage, we are not only dedicated to providing you with a quality move, but we also strive to be an active leader in the community. We believe that a company’s responsibility extends beyond the business world and into the lives of those in need.
For over fifty years, Capitol has been involved with charity and service projects spanning from throughout the region to around the world. From 9/11 disaster relief, to aid for Hurricane Katrina victims, to Habitat for Humanity volunteer work, Capitol Moving & Storage has proven its commitment to the community and the nation. Starting in 2006, the company has expanded its efforts to the international level, launching a foreign labor program that employed workers from as far away as Ghana and Slovakia.
For nearly 20 years, Rock 102 (WAQY) morning hosts Bax & O’Brien have hosted the annual Mayflower Marathon. This year, they continued the tradition. Bax & O’Brien broadcast for 52 hours from the Basketball Hall of Fame over the three days leading up to Thanksgiving while collecting non-perishable food donations for the Open Pantry of Springfield. In a year where the Open Pantry has struggled to keep up with growing demand, the need for donations of non-perishable food items is greater than ever before. The outpouring of support from local residents and businesses like Capitol Moving and Storage was unprecedented this year and helped to raise over $110,000 in food and cash donations. Capitol Moving was proud to be part of this record breaking year for the Mayflower Marathon!.
Capitol plans to continue and expand its efforts as a community leader in the many years to come.
