Have An Odd Or Over-Sized Shipment? No Problem

Challenge

The Challenge:  A client calls in July and needs to safely move the newly fabricated Gillette Stadium oversized sign from Wisconsin to Foxboro, MA on tight time frames. Deadline is to get delivered before the preseason-opening game on August 7, 2014.

The Solution:  Capitol Moving quickly went work measuring out the pieces so as to minimize the number of specialized low-boy flatbeds yet ensuring the cargo was well protected.   We tarped, strapped and safely secured the aluminum signs to withstand the highway winds.  Since the height of the sign was 12’3” and the lowest flatbed available was 21”, our load was 14’ high.  Since the maximum legal height is 13’6” on interstate highways, Capitol had to map out safe routes for the two trailer loads to navigate so as to not strike any overpasses.  Permits in each state traveled had to be pulled prior to starting the trip.  Marked with flashing lights, lead and chase vehicles were required to encompany the two trailers.  In addition, since over-sized loads can only legally travel during daylight hours.   What normally would take just over two days took four days in transit.

End result, a safe, on-time delivery and a happy customer with the sign prominently displayed for the Home Opener.
